..All in a days work at Foxy Chopper
Foxy Chopper Waterford Just celebrated it's second year in business and as always Michael and his team did it in style with an in-house D.j. and champagne cocktails. Within this short time Foxy Chopper has established itself as the hottest ticket in hairdressing in the South East, Gracing the pages of magazines nationwide Foxy Chopper has brought that funky and fresh feel to Waterford.
''The last two years have been the most enjoyable and creative in my Career'' says Michael Downs salon owner and creative director, ''Been able to develop trend setting styles in a creative environment such Foxy Chopper has always been my vision'' And it has been this foresight that has earned Foxy Chopper it's acclaimed reputation. ''Being asked in the past to showcase our new seasons collection in Glasgow Scotland and again to showcase our Autumn/Winter collection at London's Salon international have both been highlights of the year'' says Michael ''But nothing gives me more satisfaction then to see my staff and the salon gaining the recognition that they deserve.
And all the hard works definitely seems to have paid off with Senior Stylists and Junior Trainees again this year been awarded the highest accolade in Ireland. Claiming a second place in the junior category this year Marina Hayes Creative Fantasy and Jodie Mac Garth senior ladies Street fashion in the Irish hairdressing championships. ''Competing in competitions constantly keeps the edge on our trends'' says Michael competing against the best in the country helps you to rise your game says Senior stylist Jodie Mac Garth,'' It was from here that Jodie herself was talent spotted for TEAM IRELAND which Jodie is just back from representing Ireland in Paris in the European championships, Jodie the youngest member ever to chosen for the team used
local model Louise Flynn and make-up artist Emma Mac Hale Jodie created a complete original look seeking inspiration fashion and media that she and I are extremely proud of'' says Michael. But it is not only the award winning and trend setting team that sets foxy chopper above the rest.
The salon itself has actually been short listed for the Best Overall Salon
New Comer 2007 where a there is a full insight to the business and it is judged by three independents from the media industry and finally a mystery shopper sent to each salon to judge the overall service. It's been amazing to be short-listed says MICHEAL. For me it's a recognition for each and every person involved either in the forefront or behind the seems with Foxy
Chopper'' It is not possible to achieve this solely and everyone has their part to play and it's like a big tap on the back for all, but it keeps everyone top of there game as you can't afford to let standards drop as no one ones knows when to expect a Mystery shoppers or judges to be around''
If this wasn't enough Foxy Chopper has also been short listed for best Salon design also in the National Business awards. 'to be nominated for one is amazing, but salon design also just blows me away'' says Michael, The salon design reflects the personality within the salon, fun but professional,
Fresh Juices and self-styled music add to the atmosphere of the salon, but we are always trying to find new ways to keep the salon fresh. Last year we introduced a make-up artist. A lot is possible, so keep an eye out in the future to see what we have in store''
Michael believes that although awards are amazingly flattering it is actually the clients who are constantly returning to the salon that really pushes him forward'' being able to style and care for a client gives me the biggest boost'' all the elements within the salon that make it a success, the talent, the team, the products, are all painstakingly chosen specifically for FOXY CHOPPER cliental, where without them, nothing would be possible,
I LIKE TO GIVE a little BACK to my clients says Michael and on this occasion to give a big THANKS to them all.
