Foxy Chopper hairdresser makes the Irish Hair Dressing team
Foxy Chopper Hairdresser, Jodie McGrath (23) has been chosen to represent Ireland on the Irish Hairdressing Team when they travel to Paris in September to the European Hairdressing Championships. In March of this year Jodie entered the Irish Hairdressing Federation Championships at the Burlington Hotel in Dublin. As it was Jodie’s first time entering a Hairdressing competition, securing 4th place in the Senior Long Up category was a phenomenal achievement. It was on the back of her success at the IHF Championships that Jodie and four others were chosen by scouts to represent Ireland at the forthcoming European Championship in September. At just 23 years of age, Jodie is the youngest person to have ever been chosen for the Irish Hairdressing Team. Speaking to Waterford Today, Jodie explained how she used local model, Louise Flynn for the IHF Championships. Having considered the brief issued by the IHF, which read “competitors must produce a street fashion hairstyle on long hair, suitable for an evening out but not necessarily a ball or gala event”, Jodie decided to give Louise a contemporary Amy Winehouse look, with sailor tattoos supplied courtesy of Joe Myler Tattoo Studio, O’Connell Street, Waterford. To Jodie’s surprise when they arrived at the IHF Championships all of the other models were dressed in ball gowns, while Jodie’s model Louise was clad in jeans and a white shirt with black leather tie - perhaps the others had misread the brief! The originality of Jodie’s individual “London look” style must have impressed the judges considering she came fourth place.
The Irish Hairdressing Federation Championships, which have long been hailed as the Oscars of Hairdressing are organised annually by the IHF.
